Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American chef television personality as well as a former teacher of the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef along with being co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. The spiky blond hair and bubbly presence, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides clear, easy to learn techniques to the home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked at various top eateries located in New York, studied the tradition of Italian cuisine, and the culinary landscape in Italy and competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in upstate New York, Chef Burrell began to develop a love of food and cooking at an early age. After earning an English and Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she became interested in the restaurant business by enrolling into The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was a wonderful experience for me. There was no way to be able to learn how to do, or even work hard enough. Chef Burrell following her graduation from The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy completed a one-year stint in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, the Michelin-starred restaurant. It was during this time that her experience in Italy made her more aware and appreciate Italian way of life and its culture and it has had an impression on her perception of food. Burrell was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to improve the lives of children facing obstacles. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador where she advocates for an awareness campaign on young-onset diabetes. She travels frequently around the country in her role in the capacity of mentor as well as guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel so lucky to be able to share my passion within my life with other people.
