Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She is the host of The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. The spiky blond hair and an exuberant persona Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides clear, easy to learn techniques for home cooks on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked at various top eateries located in New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy, and battled on Food Network's Iron Chef America. When she was growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for cooking and food from the age of a child. Following her graduation with an English as well as Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she started to pursue her passion for the business of restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing learning experience for me. I could not learn or do enough. Following graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. It was during this time that her experience in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, which has had an impression on her food and culinary experience. Burrell served as a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that aims to make a difference in the lives of kids facing problems. She is also a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador which promotes an awareness campaign on young-onset diabetes. As a speaker, Burrell goes on a tour across the United States to promote her love for cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Anne stated that she felt privileged having the opportunity to communicate her love of cooking to the people around her.
